The Stress and Burnout Program
2 week (condensed version)
4 Week program
In today's high-demand society, stress and burnout are increasingly common, especially in northern communities where mental health resources are limited. A 2021 study found that 35% of working Canadians feel burned out, with stress levels rising since the pandemic.
At Cetana, we're dedicated to offering Northerners more support for stress, anxiety, and mental wellness. We're excited to introduce our 2 & 4 week Psycho-educational treatment program for acute stress and burnout. This comprehensive mind-body program combines education on stress management, weekly one-on-one therapy sessions, wellness activities, and alternative therapies like Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST) and Low Energy Neurofeedback (LENS) to promote lasting well-being.
Who this program is for:
Those who have experienced acute stress, anxiety, and/or burnout.
Those who have otherwise experienced a general sense of mental stability and functioning.
Those who’s symptoms are largely related to matters of circumstance (job stress, family stress, life adjustments, financial stress, etc), rather than a pre-existing mental health condition.
If you are not sure if this program would be a good fit for you, give us a call to consult or indicate in your inquiry
Program Fee & Insurance:
Although participants will enjoy everything Cetana has to offer with this program, they will only be invoiced for the included Psychological Services. In other words, the entire program fee is eligible for reimbursement if you have coverage for Psychological Services.

Weekly group sessions, grounded in Cognitive Behavioural concepts, will be provided by Registered Psychologist, Bryan Austin. Groups will be 1 hour long and will involve both psycho-education and group participation. For example, group work will be used to educate, discuss, and analyze unhelpful thinking patterns and how they affect us. Group work will conclude by discussing pro-active and retro-active strategies, including those accessed during the program, for managing unhelpful thinking patterns and symptoms associated with general stress and burnout.

(also known as float tanks), sensory deprivation allows the mind and body to let go, relax and reset. REST is noted for helping with stress reduction. The existing research on sensory deprivation and its benefits in terms of stress reduction, is very promising and exciting.

LENS Neurofeedback is considered “non-traditional” neurofeedback, also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. LENS Neurofeedback is self-regulation. Self-regulation is a necessary part of optimal brain performance and function, allowing the nervous system to function better. Less experienced/perceived stress is also a by-product of improved emotional regulation.

Strictly speaking, given the lack of extensive research support, Red Light is not an evidence-based treatment for stress and burnout. That said, research that exists is promising and there are a number of documented benefits to Red Light Therapy. For example, it is increasingly being used as a treatment option for mental health and wellness. A recent meta-analysis of currently available research suggests that light therapy shows potential for treating Seasonal Effective Disorder and Depression. Moreover, red light therapy is generally considered safe and painless.
A Muse headband, which is a medication device that uses biofeedback, is available to pair with the Red Light Services for S&B participants.

Meditation, Breathwork, and Yoga have each been demonstrated to improve stress-regulation, decrease anxiety and enhance cognition.
We have partnered with Taiga Yoga studio to give stress and burnout participants access to their services.

Along with receiving Neurofeedback, Participants will also be working with the neurofeedback technician to identify where stress is coming from, how it impacts them, and explore potential strategies for managing stress better. The information gathered in these sessions will then be utilized to inform the recommendations included in the program summary report each participant receives at the end of the program.
