Frequently asked questions

No. Bathing suits and/or clothes contain contaminants such as detergents that would be introduced to the float solution, thus contaminating the water. Floating occurs in the nude!
-
Our tanks use 1000lbs of Epsom salt per tank.
-
Float tanks are actually more sanitary than a public pool! Float tanks have a high concentration of Epsom salts, which make it difficult for pathogens to grow or even survive. In addition to the Epsom salts, our float tanks are sanitized with UV light and ozone, and filtration of the tank water occurs three times in between each customer. This allows 95-98% of the float tank solution to be filtered. Along with these, we use Hydrogen Peroxide as our main disinfectant. The tanks are tested daily.
Customers are required to shower prior to a float – which removes a lot of the regular dirt/oil that can be introduced into the water. All of this is in addition to the operational practice whereby floating involves only one person at a time: which contributes to an environment that is clearly distinguishable from many of the safety and sanitation concerns that pools and spas are faced with.

Many people that believe they are claustrophobic find float tanks very manageable, once they have experienced it. You are in complete control of your environment in the float tank. It is a safe and well-ventilated space, that you can exit at any time if you feel uncomfortable. The tank doors are very easy to open, and it is recommended that you practice opening/shutting them a couple of times at the start of your float so you feel more comfortable. There is no lock on the tank, so there is no way to be locked inside. You can even leave the tank door open if that makes you more comfortable. But overall it is not nearly as restricting as it seems.

Absolutely, and we highly recommend it. Befits of floating during pregnancy can include the following: reduce stress/swelling on the body, lower blood pressure, promotes mother/baby bonding, relaxation and improved sleep. The water is body temperature, so it is appropriate for pregnancy. Many pregnant women report thoroughly enjoying floating during pregnancy: and we can speak from experience!
However, we do of course recommend with any medical condition, that you speak with your Doctor prior to floating.
-
Yes, some people do report falling asleep and yes it is not only safe but encouraged. There is some evidence to suggest that 1 hour of sleep in a float tank can be the equivalent of over 4 hours of regular sleep.

Epsom salt is a natural mineral compound of magnesium and sulphate. They have an array of benefits that can reduce inflammation, help muscle and nerve function, muscle relaxation and migraines/headaches. Some studies also suggest that Epsom salts can help stabilize moods and help with anxiety/stress and depression.
-
No, the water in the tank is heated to approximately 95 degrees which are about skin temperature. We can also adjust the temperature if needed.
-
Because of the high concentration of Epsom salt, your body automatically floats, and you cannot sink to the bottom. In addition, there is only approximately two feet of water in the tank.
-
It all depends on you! But it’s great to try different times of day to see what benefits you most.

We would recommend you bring any grooming products you may want (hairbrush, cosmetics, etc.), however, we will have basic hair and skincare products in case you forget. We will provide towels, shower products and earplugs.
-
• Please don’t drink or do drugs before you float! If we think you may be under the influence, we cannot let you float.
• If you have dyed your hair within the last 1-2 weeks
• If you have an infectious disease - including any symptoms of Covid 19.
• People with abrasions or fresh tattoos/piercings.
-
If you have a medical condition, we always recommend you speak with your doctor before floating. In terms of ages, anyone over the age of 16 can float. If you are under the age of 16 and want to float, you can, however, you need to have a parent or guardian in the room (outside the tank) with you.
-
You can do one, or as many floats as you like. It is however widely recommended that you try floating at least 2-3 times to fully gauge the effects. The first experience is really about getting used to the environment and surroundings. When you go a second or third time you know what to expect and will likely be more relaxed. Floating can be a different experience each time, and some people do not experience the full therapeutic potential until they have tried it a few times - so we strongly recommend trying it more than once.
-
We recommend waiting at least 1-2 weeks after you have coloured your hair to float, due to the high salt content.
